Why the Norfolk coast is a perfect dog-friendly holiday destination

With coastal and countryside walks, open-air attractions and dog-friendly locations to explore, the Norfolk coast is a fantastic dog-friendly holiday destination.

Bringing our four-legged friends on holiday with us is essential as they are part of the family, right. If you’re looking for dog-friendly destinations for your 2025 holiday, the Norfolk coast is a fantastic choice as it combines sandy beaches, glorious countryside, easy walking routes and a host of dog-friendly attractions, all within easy reach of each other.

At Richardson’s Hemsby Beach Holiday Park, we know just how special dogs are to our families, and that’s why we go the extra mile to provide exciting, dog-friendly holidays where everyone can have fun by the seaside.

We have a wide selection of dog-friendly self-catering accommodation which includes two luxury 13ft Platinum caravans and several three-bed Platinum Plus lodges, which sleep six and include a spacious, open-plan living area, hot tub, smart TV, free superfast WIFI and alfresco dining area.

Bringing your dog with you on holiday gives you peace of mind that they are safe and happy, while also saving on high kennel costs as we charge just £35 for pets.

All you need to pack for your pet to keep them happy is their food, bedding, bowls, doggy bags, lead and some of their favourite toys. For more tips, click here.

Your dog is welcome to join the family meal in the Quarterdeck Restaurant, where we serve up a range of breakfast, lunch and dinner options, including vegan and veggie dishes and lots of options for children.

Dog-friendly Days Out

As well as our range of on-park activities, there are plenty of fantastic places to see and things to do with your dog on the Norfolk coast. Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome at many locations along the coast, so you can be sure they’ll have a great time while still protecting natural wildlife. Dogs are welcome all year at Great Yarmouth’s South and North beaches, Scratby Beach and the beach at Caister-on-Sea. Please remember to check rules on dogs before you visit any beach so that you can ensure the whole family can be safe and have fun by the water.

There is a plethora of smaller towns and villages to explore along the coast too, as well as lots of dog-friendly parks, eateries and attractions. History lovers should pay a visit to Great Yarmouth’s Burgh Castle, where well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome, and the coast is just a stone’s throw from the abundance of nature walks, activities and attractions at the Broads National Park.

You could even spend a day exploring the waterways in a dog-friendly day boat from our marina in Wroxham. Click here to learn more.
