2. Beautiful Beaches

One of the main reasons people visit the coast is to spend time relaxing on or exploring the beach. From walking in the sand dunes at Winterton-on-Sea to enjoying an ice cream in a deck chair in Great Yarmouth, the beaches of Norfolk’s coast have something for everyone.

Richardson’s Hemsby Beach Holiday Park is located close to the wide-open beach, which boasts golden sands backed by grassy dunes and ‘good’ quality waters, making it perfect for water-based activities. From our park reception, it’s just a 10-minute stroll down to Hemsby’s beautiful beach. The bright lights of Great Yarmouth are only seven miles away and easily reached by open-top buses operating throughout the summer.

4. History and Heritage

Norfolk’s coastline is alive with history and culture. Many of the towns have a well-documented connection to Britain’s maritime history; the Deep History Coast between Weybourne and Cart Gap is home to the earliest evidence of humans in the country and Norfolk even has links to the Vikings, who arrived on our shores in 840AD. You can discover Great Yarmouth’s rich maritime history at the Time and Tide or Elizabethan House Museums, or head just outside the town to Burgh Castle, one of the best-preserved Roman monuments in Britain.

The Lowestoft Maritime Museum traces the town’s history from a fishing village to a thriving port, and other stunning heritage sites can be found along the Norfolk Broads. We have even more information on the Norfolk coast’s history and heritage here.

5. On the Water

There’s no better way to unwind on holiday than spending time in or on the water. Hemsby Beach is well-suited for swimming, and nearby Great Yarmouth has 15 miles of sandy beach to enjoy, as well as boat and pedalo hire at The Waterways.

You can even take a day boat trip to explore the inland waterways of the Norfolk Broads with your family from our Day Boats Marina in Wroxham.

Our Go Active activities also include a range of water-based experiences. Find out more and book your activities here.
