At Richardson’s Hemsby Beach Holiday Park, we’re committed to offering the best family-friendly stays possible on the Norfolk coast. At the start of the year when it’s chilly outside and the summer can’t come quickly enough, you may be looking at booking a holiday by the sea. A trip to the coast offers the perfect chance to unwind, explore and have fun surrounded by golden beaches and shimmering waves. But to ensure your well-deserved getaway lives up to your expectations, finding a trusted holiday provider is key. The family business behind Richardson’s Hemsby Beach Holiday Park has links to Norfolk dating back centuries and over our time creating unforgettable holidays in the county, we’ve built up a trusted reputation and an understanding of what makes Norfolk truly special.
A trusted holiday provider proud to offer the perfect seaside getaway
Our founder, Robert Richardson Jnr, set up Richardson’s 80 years ago alongside his father, Robert Richardson Snr, when they purchased a motor cruiser from Wally Hoseason in 1944 and began offering boating holidays along the Norfolk Broads. The business expanded in 1996 with the acquisition of Hemsby Beach Holiday Village and the Pontins site opposite in 1998. The two holiday parks were combined in 2017-2018 to form Richardson’s Hemsby Beach Holiday Park and we invested over £10 million creating a high-quality experience for guests.
Since then, we’ve achieved a number of accolades including receiving five stars from VisitEngland. “Being inspected by VisitEngland means we must be at the top of our game and we’re delighted to be awarded the highest star rating,” said chief executive Greg Munford. “Guests staying with us can be confident knowing that we have been quality assessed and therefore the facilities and services we offer are of a high standard.”
Located just 10 minutes’ walk away from Hemsby Beach, near Great Yarmouth, Richardson’s Hemsby Beach Holiday Park is the perfect base from which to explore the Norfolk coast as well as the Norfolk Broads, which are within easy reach. “We have a stunning coastline, those huge Norfolk skies and a national treasure in the Norfolk Broads. This really is the ideal destination to create happy family memories,” said Greg. You can spend time having fun by the sea, shopping and sampling the local fare in nearby towns and villages and exploring some of Norfolk’s top attractions.
There are also plenty of things to do on the park. Take a dip in the indoor pool with kayaks, water walkerz and sea scooters, or reach for the skies on the Skytykes, traversing and climbing walls. We also have a full programme of Go Active activities, and after working up an appetite, why not try a meal in the Quarterdeck restaurant? For more ideas for things to do, please click here.
At Richardson’s, we understand how important holidays are, not just as an opportunity to have fun see new things, but also as a chance to unwind and recharge before returning to everyday life. This is why we continue to invest in our offering. In fact, we’ve recently completed a £1.5 million investment into enhancing the guest experience for 2024.
“Guest feedback is incredibly important to us,” said Greg. “It helps to guide enhancements at the park, new developments and our ambition to provide the best possible holiday experience in Norfolk.”
New updates this year include the addition of several dog-friendly accommodation options, including three-bed Platinum Plus luxury lodges and Platinum caravans, both of which sleep six people and feature a hot tub, free superfast WiFi, smart TV, a spacious, open-plan living area and an alfresco dining area with two separate decks – perfect for soaking up the sun!
This year you can also visit the new outdoor Quarterdeck area on the park, with a refurbished bowls green, a new pirate-themed wet play attraction and a brand-new 12-hole crazy golf course. There is also a new purpose-built indoor activities tent with astroturf, where you can enjoy archery, fencing, panna soccer, body zorbing and hoverboarding. There’s even more fun to be had at Richardson’s Family Entertainment Centre adjacent to the Holiday Park, which is also getting new attractions this year including the Coconut Tree Climb.
Inside, you can enjoy tenpin bowling, American pool, air hockey and the latest craze, augmented reality darts. You can also stop for a bite to eat at the Galley Fish Bar, which serves good old fashioned seaside fish and chips, washed down with a drink of your choice.
