Find my Holiday

Our guide to what to do season to season on a holiday to the Norfolk coast.

Norfolk’s beautiful coastline has plenty to see and do no matter the time of year thanks to its unique sights, sprawling beaches and fun family attractions.
Located in Great Yarmouth, Richardson’s Hemsby Beach Holiday Park not only offers a great base from which to explore everything that the coast has to offer across the seasons, it also provides its own range of exciting things to do by the sea!

We’ve created a guide to some of our top activities to enjoy throughout the year, to help you figure out the best time to book your 2024 holiday.

Spring adventures

There is plenty to do on-park at Richardson’s during spring. Why not enjoy a sit-down meal in the Quarterdeck Restaurant. From light bites to gourmet burgers, we have options to suit everyone.

There’s no better time of year than spring to head out walking or cycling, and we offer Trek mountain bikes for hire, as well as a range of family karts, to make getting around easy.

The Horsey and Hickling cycling routes are both close to Hemsby, allowing you to see plenty of coastal and Broads villages, local wildlife and historical sites. Find out more here.

A fantastic array of wildlife can be seen on the coast during spring too, from the marsh harrier to the rare Natterjack toad. Winterton Dunes National Nature Reserve is right on our doorstep and is a haven for birdwatchers as well as having its own resident seal colony.

Fun in the sun

Nothing says summer like a day on the beach, and Norfolk has some of the best in the country, whether you choose to visit the golden sands of Great Yarmouth or explore one of the quieter coastal towns.

Go for a swim in the sea, visit attractions like the Pleasure Beach and indulge in an ice cream before heading out to watch a show in the evening, or admire the summer fireworks at Hemsby – only 10 minutes’ walk away from the holiday park.

If you’re in the mood for exploring, why not take a day boat trip from Richardson’s Day Boats Marina in Wroxham? Or visit one of the many open-air attractions along the coast, including wildlife parks, nature reserves, theme parks, museums and more.

For your evening entertainment, the Quarterdeck Show Bar hosts fantastic family-friendly entertainment throughout the year, including local bands, cabarets, talent shows and discos – all included in the price of your holiday! More details can be found here.

Autumn tranquillity

The milder autumn weather offers a great opportunity to go for a stroll, or a cycle, and discover some hidden gems and must-see places along the coast.

You could enjoy cake and coffee in a quaint local café, spend a morning at the amusements at Hemsby’s Beach Road, or get started on some Christmas shopping in the many boutiques and craft shops.

We have plenty to do on site if the weather takes a turn or you just fancy a fuss-free holiday.

A selection of lodges with private hot tubs are available to book, so you can relax in the steamy waters regardless of the temperature outside!

The indoor heated pool is also great for a late season swim and hosts a number of water-based Go Active activities, available to book once you arrive on site. There are multiple indoor play areas and other activities to take part in too, such as colouring, crafts and games for little ones at the Ellie Club.

There’s also the Richardson’s Family Entertainment Centre adjacent to the park, with a high ropes experience and, new for 2024, a tenpin bowling alley and the Coconut Tree Climb.
